The following example is based on our 4kW system which generated 3285kW (units) between 1st April 2010 and 31st March 2011. We have assumed that the rate of 21.0p goes ahead as planned.
| Generation Tariff: 3285 x 21.0p | £689.85 | 3285kWh generated by the solar PV system |
| Export Tariff: 1643 x 3.3p | £54.22 | Assuming 1643kWh is used around the home powering appliances and the additional 1643kWh is exported to the grid. |
| Electricity Bill Savings: 1643 x 15.0p | £246.45 | This is assuming that your electricity company charges 15.0p per kWh |
| Total | £990.52 |
Applying for the Feed-In Tariff:
When we have finished installating your system we will test and commission it, once we have done this we will register your installation on the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) website and produce a certificate for you. Once we have received the final balance from you we will release the certificate to you along with a sales receipt, if needed.
You will need to inform your energy provider that you have had solar PV installed. They will require you to complete their own forms so that they can pay you the Feed-In Tariff. They will ask for the MCS certificate. Your energy provider will ask for readings from your generation meter so that they can pay you for the amount of electricity you have produced. Payments will be made each quarter based on your readings. How you are paid will depend upon your energy provider.
